Bone vs Brass Bridge Pins Comparison on Taylor 214ce Acoustic Guitar

I think the brass bridge pins make the strings transfer a much warmer and more clarified sound, at least with your playing and with the Taylor. The physics demands that metal-to-metal, especially brass(bronze) to brass helps more purely transfer frequencies. The metal also forces tonal stability since its crystalline structure vibrates with recognizably complementary nodes, called "overtones" which, in many cases can complement the overtones presented by the guitar's natural acoustics. Acoustic engiineering is an ongoing science. Plastic mutes, though other bituminous carborundum (grinding) materials such as bone are denser and harder. I can really hear the difference and would like to see a demonstration in a laboratory racked up to test the acoustics. The negative side to brass is that it is not very kind to a wooden bridge, even a rose wood or ebony bridge. (When the engineers in Greece tried to repair the Parthenon which was made of stone, they used steel girders. The steel quickly deteriorated the stone and after WWII it all had to be repaired again with some irretrievable losses. This what happens when two dissimilar materials are united. Something always has to give.) A deeper seat can really help the bridge and visiting an excellent luthier to ream out the holes may be necessary. I would talk to Taylor's luthiers first before doing this and they may agree to to it themselves if they have a mind. They tend to be perfectionists though I hope they are not brittle to the suggestion. Of course, what it will do to your warranty I cannot even guess. So far so good. Thank you.

I think heavier pins, dampens lower frequency vibrations, hence the sound is slightly shifted towards the brighter side. Based on my experiments and experience, if you want your guitar to have strong sounding bass and resonance that last long..use the lightest material for your pins. Wood pin maybe.

IT SOUND THE SAME TO ME, OR MAYBE VERY SLIGHTLY BRIGHTER FOR BRASS. CAN YOU TRY TUSQ VS. BRASS INSTEAD. THANKS

Base sa tenga ko. Parehas lang po ang sound… Pero mas gusto ko ang brass pins kc mas matibay ito at mas magandang tignan. πŸ™‚
