Before Jimi gets on stage…it kind of sounds like Buddy is playing loose/bluesy version "I Want You (She's So Heavy)"….I mean, the chords and feel of his jam sure the heck sounds like it. Check it out from 4:41 to 5:56
The Beatles recorded "I Want You" in 1969…a year after this video.
Maybe it's just the whiskey talking right now–but that's what I hear.

Buddy was at his best during the Chess years — before the atonal minstrel-show shit the know-nothings lap up today. But it's OK cause Buddy pulling down dollars from the Meyer/Bonamassa crowds.

My favorite blues song and my two favorite guitarists. That you so much for putting this up

I hate it when people who say Jimi was not a bluesman. He breathed and ate blues in every single of his songs. The fact that he was a rock star and he experimented and expanded in other styles does not contradict the fact that he was blues, from head to toe. Every time I want to listen to my blues playlist, Jimi's best blues songs are among some of artists like BB King, Elmore James, Stevie Ray Vaughan or Muddy Waters.

Buddy is a legend. I don't think Jimi was ever in awe of his technical prowess. Jimi blew everyone away. Respect Buddy for sure

Magic, fucking MAGICAL!Imagine if Jimi could've slowed up large tours to participate in smaller preferred venues?

Just beautiful!….but I hate to be a Debbie downer, but this is two different tapes or time frames put together….the second half when Jimi is on stage, he's jamming with the late great Roy Buchanan and not Buddy Guy…..Buddy claims Jimi showed up one night when he was playing and introduced himself to him and asked if he could record him and Buddy graciously gave him permission…..this just might be that time….

Yep true, Hendrix studied and learnt, but then took guitar playing to a whole new level which is blatantly obvious from this video, almost a mistake for the old blues great to share a stage with him.

would have loved to see hendrix and Terry Kath of Chicago jam. hendrix said Kath was his favorite guitarist at the time because of his range on the guitar
